About Javier Miguélez
Javier Miguélez is President of ARME, the Spanish Mobile Robotics Association, and one of the most visible European voices in the AMR and AGV community — recognized as a Top Robotics Voice on LinkedIn with more than 28,000 followers. He is also a consultant for AGVs and AMRs at Moving Robots.
Through ARME, Javier has built one of Europe's most active mobile robotics networks — connecting manufacturers, integrators, end-users and researchers, and running the annual ARME Awards for mobile robotics innovation. He teaches Applications of Mobile Robotics and Their Associated Challenges in a master's program at the Universidad de León, and frequently moderates industry panels across Europe. His perspective connects the mature field of mobile robotics with the emerging field of humanoid robotics — two domains that are increasingly converging in the form of mobile manipulators and humanoid platforms.
Session at Advanced Humanoid Forum 2027
Topic: "From AMRs to Humanoids – What the European Mobile Robotics Ecosystem Brings to the Humanoid Era"
January 20–21, 2027 · Main Stage
The session argues that the humanoid robotics discussion in Europe often ignores a decade of hard-won lessons from mobile robotics: fleet management, safety standards, integration with existing infrastructure, and the economic realities of scaling robotics deployments. Javier explains what AMR deployments already taught European industry, why humanoid platforms will inherit many of those constraints, and how the mobile robotics ecosystem — including ARME members — is already positioning itself for the humanoid transition.
Why His Perspective Matters for the Humanoid Robotics Ecosystem
- Mature Robotics Field: Mobile robotics has already gone through the full deployment curve — pilots, scaling, standardization, ROI scrutiny. Javier brings those lessons directly into the humanoid conversation, where the same mistakes are being repeated.
- European Network View: As ARME President, he has visibility across Spain, Portugal and increasingly the wider European robotics ecosystem. He can point to which skills, safety frameworks and integration patterns will transfer to humanoids.
- Association & Standards: Industry associations drive the standards and certification pathways that humanoids will need. His perspective on how ARME organizes this for AMRs is directly relevant to how humanoids will need to be certified in Europe.
- Education & Talent: Through his university teaching, Javier engages the next generation of robotics engineers — the same talent pool that humanoid companies will need to recruit from.
